We are delighted to award Laura Sotelo as our November Employee of the Month. Laura is currently our Claims Resolution Liaison and has been with GlobalTranz for one year and three months. She comes from an impressive background of 12 years in Security Forces for the Air Force.
She started her journey at GlobalTranz as a broker for West Coast flatbed and after a short three months she applied for the position that she’s in now. Her responsibilities include reviewing new LTL claims submitted by the inside sales representatives, organize and keep track of all claims submitted, and follow up with sales representatives on pending claims. As a liaison between the inside sales representatives and claims department, she assists with requesting updates on filed claims, as well as being available for any questions the sales representatives may have. Laura recently has been given the responsibility of handling inside truckload claims. She works as the communicator between the claims department and the sales team. She organizes all truckload claims and keeps in contact with the insurance companies and/or carriers that are pursuing a resolution on claims filed. She also assists truckload operations and outside agents with comcheck procedures, ensuring accuracy of documentation submitted for requests. Finally, she works with the Sr. Manager of Truckload operations of any suspected fraudulent activity.
Laura praises her mother for instilling her with strong work ethics at a young age. Those lessons were reinforced when she joined the military right after graduating from Buena High School in Sierra Vista, AZ. “There are two core values that stuck with me, integrity first and excellence in all we do. Integrity isn’t just doing what is right when no one is watching, but it is also owning up to your mistakes and learning from them… Most importantly, I enjoy my job. And when you enjoy what you do, it’s reflected in your work.”
Laura cherishes the confidence that she has been given by her manager who has helped her build a position from the ground up and giving her constant support and guidance along the way. Her most memorable moment while at GlobalTranz includes accepting the position she’s in now allowing her to learn an entirely different side to the industry. In June, she was awarded the first dedication award for the month of May. Laura plans to keep striving to be the best she can be at her job and to open up the possibility of becoming a manager of her own department.
Laura is originally from Sierra Vista, Arizona and enjoys spending time with her son, watching movies, reading, and rooting for the Cardinals during football season. A fun fact that most people don’t know is that she is a huge Game of Thrones fan and has been deployed to Iraq three times.
“Anna Laura Sotelo is the epitome of a team player. Throughout her tenure with GlobalTranz she has been tasked with several highly important roles within the GTZ Truckload Division and has excelled across the board. The professionalism and work ethic that Anna Laura brings to the table is unparalleled, she is truly a pleasure to work with.” –Grant Glasser | Director of Sales
