On June 18th, 2012, Clear Lane Freight Systems received its first ever pickup request. The pickup was from GlobalTranz, BOL 3238538, shipper Natural Products, Escondido, CA for 2 skids 2,820 lbs. destined to H&H Wholesale located in Clear Lane’s hometown of Indianapolis, IN.
This shipment was the beginning of a very close and beneficial relationship Clear Lane has enjoyed with GlobalTranz the past four years. Since that date GlobalTranz has become Clear Lane’s largest customer with thousands of GlobalTranz shipments handled. Clear Lane named GlobalTranz its 3PL Customer of the Year in 2015.
Clear Lane was founded just over four years ago by LTL industry veterans, Tom Nagel and Ingi Torfason. Between the two of them they have decades of industry experience dating back to their first LTL industry jobs as management trainees with Roadway Express. Tom and Ingi had a vision to create a long haul “economy” LTL carrier designated for the 3PL industry to handle non time sensitive LTL shipments for customers that do not need fast transit and in return enjoy cost savings. Clear Lane has established a non-asset based network of trusted carrier partners to perform pick up and deliveries in 40 states. Shipments are consolidated at a number of locations and moved to distribution centers around the country using combination of intermodal and over the road transportation.
Since its inception, Clear Lane has continued to add service lanes, the latest one this month from the Pacific Northwest to the Southeast.
We take pride in our customer service; our customer service agents are all industry veterans that work from their homes in the Midwest and the Pacific Northwest. They are truly the face of Clear Lane and without them the company would not have achieved the growth and success over the four short years.
What is next for Clear Lane? We will continue to grow our service lanes, improve the service product and shipment technology.
