How did you get your start in the logistics industry?
I had 20 years in the petroleum industry out of college and naturally gravitated to the supply and inventory management side of that business which fed into logistics. My resume on-line led me to my first introduction to the 3PL part of the logistics industry.

What do you find inspiring/motivating?
The support and patience from my wife, Connie, has been amazing and motivates me every day. Solving my customers’ problems and exceeding their expectations; doing things that they didn’t know we could do or think can’t be done is one of the most exciting parts of the day.
How many members are on your team?
Do you utilize Customer Service, if so how big is your CSR team?
No, I do not currently use them. I have to recognize the support of the assistant to the agent with who I joined GTZ – thank you Sara! Her help at times has been invaluable when I had some family emergencies to deal with!
Where do you see yourself and your business within the next year?
Hope to add 1-3 agents and keep growing. I want to be one of the top GTZ agents based on size.
What are you currently working on?
Growing one of my larger flatbed FTL customers to include additional locations

What obstacles have you overcome to get thus far?
Initially, one of my biggest obstacles personally was cold calling potential customers, but now I look at those as having a conversation as I would with any of my other customers. Of course, more recently, learning the new GTZ software was a challenge but the support from the Phoenix office has been awesome!
What are some words of encouragement you can give to newer agents just getting started?

Where do you like to travel?
I love travelling internationally – I have been on 5 of the 7 continents and have been to Costa Rica and Belize within last couple years. It’s been awhile but I climbed Mt Kilimanjaro back in 2000.
Do you have any hobbies?
Camping, travel, playing sports and when I can’t play I love to watch and play fantasy football. I also coach the junior high wrestling team and try to stay involved in the community.
What do you like to do in your downtime, who do you like to spend it with?
Relaxing with my wife, Connie, traveling or camping and when our college age children allow, spending time with them.
