One of the best things about my job is getting to introduce ACI Motor Freight to potential customers. I have the privilege of working with a team of folks with one goal in mind – the Customer. We strive daily to provide the best service, communication, and delivery presentation possible so that the Customer is able to present the best product or service available to their Customers.
ACI Motor Freight was founded in March 1980 by Robert Carriker. His freight background was from a national LTL carrier, then an intrastate LTL carrier in Kansas. With the dream of owning his own company Mr. Carriker purchased the equipment necessary and ventured out of the established lines to begin ACI. As of 2012, the second generation of the Carriker family is taking the lead, and we are proud to continue serving our employees and Customers. In 2015 the board of directors elected me to the position of President and we were able to become a Certified Woman Owned Business in June of 2016.
Over the years ACI has worn many hats: truckload, intermodal, flatbed, agent, and interline carrier; but we find what we are best at is on-time LTL service, in our direct service area. ACI currently services 6 of the Top 25 metropolitan areas in the United States.
In our top 10 accounts are 5 Fortune 500 companies in varied industries including – Aerospace, Steel & Aluminum, and Oil and Gas. ACI’s business plan is to keep our Customer base in many industries, therefore we also serve turf care manufacturing, HVAC, fasteners, plastics and molding, and construction equipment.
We are currently providing the following services:
After 36 years of business ACI is still a privately owned corporation with a strong financial base. We continue to evolve with, and for, our employees and Customers. Maintaining strong Customer relationships is my goal for the next 30 years.
My team and I appreciate the opportunity to provide pricing and service for you and your company.

“We are anxious to make certain they are showing up for all our accounts as a viable Canadian provider. This is a great alternative to our current Canadian selection of carriers. Any questions, issues, whatever we had – Dave and his team are extremely responsive. That too is very important with cross-border shipments.” – Kiki Worthington – GlobalTranz Authorized Agent
In 1958, Thurman Averitt founded Livingston Merchant’s Co-op, a small trucking company that hauled dry goods mostly between Nashville, TN and Livingston, TN. In 1969, Thurman incorporated his small company and called it Averitt Express.
While making regular deliveries in Nashville, Thurman became acquainted with a young dockworker who helped him unload his trailer. This young man’s name was Gary Sasser.
Gary happened to ask Thurman one day if he would be interested in selling his company. After some thought, Thurman said yes.
In October of 1971, Gary Sasser, at the age of 20, purchased Averitt Express, which at the time consisted of two associates, three tractors and five trailers.
Today, Averitt Express is one of the nation’s leading freight transportation and supply chain management providers.
When you pick Averitt as your carrier of your choice, you are also choosing one of the most professional teams in the transportation industry. From our associate’s unmistakable red uniforms and clean appearance to our clean, modern fleet of equipment to the way our customer service representatives will handle your calls, you can always expect to receive the most professional service at all levels.
With our associates’ interaction with your customers, we know that it is not just our image that we have to be considerate of. We know that our associates are an extension of your image and your reputation.
There are several ways that we strive to be a transportation leader when it comes to professionalism:
At Averitt Express, our vision is: “To Be the Best …The Carrier of Choice.” Our corporate symbol, “The Winner’s Circle,” represents how we can achieve that vision … with a consistent focus on: Our Customers, Our Associates and Our Future.
Our mission is to provide customers with superior quality freight transportation services. We want not only to meet our customers’ expectations, but exceed them.
Every associate plays an important role in the service process by serving customers to the best of his or her ability. Each of our associates is responsible to inspire confidence and trust among ourselves, our customers and our partners.
Our common goal is to satisfy our customers while creating an environment in which our associates can achieve their full potential.
We believe that both individual contributions and team successes should be recognized. We will work together to ensure an environment that appreciates individual talents and team efforts.
We will improve on yesterday’s successes and do even better tomorrow by sharing the lessons we learn. We will continually set, achieve and reset higher quality standards.

On June 18th, 2012, Clear Lane Freight Systems received its first ever pickup request. The pickup was from GlobalTranz, BOL 3238538, shipper Natural Products, Escondido, CA for 2 skids 2,820 lbs. destined to H&H Wholesale located in Clear Lane’s hometown of Indianapolis, IN.
This shipment was the beginning of a very close and beneficial relationship Clear Lane has enjoyed with GlobalTranz the past four years. Since that date GlobalTranz has become Clear Lane’s largest customer with thousands of GlobalTranz shipments handled. Clear Lane named GlobalTranz its 3PL Customer of the Year in 2015.
Clear Lane was founded just over four years ago by LTL industry veterans, Tom Nagel and Ingi Torfason. Between the two of them they have decades of industry experience dating back to their first LTL industry jobs as management trainees with Roadway Express. Tom and Ingi had a vision to create a long haul “economy” LTL carrier designated for the 3PL industry to handle non time sensitive LTL shipments for customers that do not need fast transit and in return enjoy cost savings. Clear Lane has established a non-asset based network of trusted carrier partners to perform pick up and deliveries in 40 states. Shipments are consolidated at a number of locations and moved to distribution centers around the country using combination of intermodal and over the road transportation.
Since its inception, Clear Lane has continued to add service lanes, the latest one this month from the Pacific Northwest to the Southeast.
We take pride in our customer service; our customer service agents are all industry veterans that work from their homes in the Midwest and the Pacific Northwest. They are truly the face of Clear Lane and without them the company would not have achieved the growth and success over the four short years.
What is next for Clear Lane? We will continue to grow our service lanes, improve the service product and shipment technology.
“We take pride in being easy to do business with. Small enough to care, large enough to deliver!
We realize that GlobalTranz sales agents have a tough job in a very competitive industry. We appreciate the confidence you have in us by trusting us with your business. We look at your customers as our customers and are committed to provide the best service we can at the lowest possible price.
Once again, we appreciate your business and look forward to a continued mutually beneficial relationship.”
– Ingi Torfason, Chief Operating Officer | Clear Lane Freight Systems
Founded in 1950 in Los Angeles, CA with a single truck providing local P&D service, DHE has grown to become the most “Dependable” based LTL service provider in the Southwestern U.S. As a major force in the West Coast LTL market and as one of the largest regional LTL companies in California, our LTL division boasts more than 2000 tractors and trailers, more than 60-years of experience, and strategically located trucking terminals throughout the West Coast. Our team can easily meet your standard or custom shipping requirements.
In 2014, DHE expanded its LTL service through announcing a direct marketing partnership with Altoona, PA based Ward Trucking. The two family owned, non – union integrated transportation companies now offer a coast to coast, LTL service between CA, NV, AZ and the Middle Atlantic Region (PA, OH, NJ, MD, VA, NC, SC & NY). These formidable next day service providers have over 150 years of service experience within their asset based networks and offer that same high level of service through a strategic partnership.
GlobalTranz is honored to spotlight Roadrunner Transportation Services as our Carrier Partner for the month of March, 2016.
Note from the President of Roadrunner LTL, Grant Crawford:
In July of 2015 when I assumed the role of President of Roadrunner, after having spent the first 23 years of my career growing up in the FedEx stable of companies, I was clear on the value proposition that my new company represented. Since it’s inception, Roadrunner had worked to provide LTL shippers with an economical price that when applied to the ability to reverse plan your supply-chain, presented an excellent value. As the years have passed within the LTL industry though, the need for further increased levels of reliability and consistency have occurred, through enhanced planning tools, competition, and market conditions. It was these factors, combined with a strong internal desire for continued growth, that caused us to “go back to the drawing board” and listen to what our customers and the larger LTL space was asking for: an economical price AND high levels of reliability. So after months of analytical review, engineering, and long-term strategic planning, on February 10th we re-introduced our standard LTL product, with updated service standards that will provide an on-time service product with goal levels of 95%. Included in the changes and enhancements was the introduction of 14 key lanes offering guaranteed service for a nominal upcharge, roughly 10% of the standard invoice, with 100% of shipping charges waived if the shipment fails to deliver timely. These changes and commitment to high levels of reliability, when combined with the Roadrunner Guaranteed product, are clear examples of our direction and philosophy in protecting the dependability and planning of your supply-chain needs.
In conjunction with this announcement came expansions to our network, with brand new Service Centers opening in Dallas and Houston, replacing past facilities that we had outgrown. These new facilities represent a significant investment into the short and long term viability of our company, providing us the opportunity to increase our competiveness in these markets while we aggressively attack further growth in these key Texas markets. Last but not least is the announcement of our newest expansion into a direct market, with the opening of our Service Center in Memphis. One of the fastest growing distribution hubs in the World, direct presence into this key market will provide our customers with increased speed and coverage within the Tennessee/Mississippi area.
With great respect to our history and what brought us to where we are today, the Team at Roadrunner couldn’t be more excited with our enhanced commitment to service, quality, damage-free handling, high levels of communication via our new operating platform, and ultimately providing you with the ability to choose a premium experience when selecting an economical LTL product. As we move forward, we will be furthering work to accentuate our strengths, while working to rebuild our reputation as a service provider that you can grow your business with, while not exceeding your transportation/shipping budget.
Thank you for your business to date and we look forward to servicing you in the future.
Grant M. Crawford, President
